Shuttered South Bay mental health program charts new course - San José Spotlight
After the Centre for Living with Dying, a longstanding South Bay mental health program, lost funding and shut down in December, Janet Childs and Sue Cronin, two long-time members of the organization, have launched Footsteps Forward, a nonprofit aimed at continuing the work of providing grief counseling, crisis response services, and mental health education. The new organization plans to launch in three to four months and will initially employ three staff members, relying on a network of volunteers. Footsteps Forward aims to fill the gap left by the closure of the Centre for Living with Dying, which had helped approximately 1.5 million people over its 50-year run.
