Microsoft gave FBI BitLocker keys, raising privacy fears | Windows Central

Microsoft has confirmed it will provide the FBI with BitLocker encryption keys if a legal order is requested, raising privacy concerns. Windows 11's default setting automatically backs up these keys to the cloud, which can be accessed by law enforcement. This practice contrasts with other tech companies like Apple, which have refused to provide such access. Microsoft receives around 20 such requests annually, but most cannot be fulfilled as the keys were not uploaded to their cloud. Users can check and delete their BitLocker keys stored on Microsoft's servers via the Microsoft Account website.

Razer’s CEO says gamers hate generative AI slop even as the company invests nearly 600 million dollars in AI tools

Razer's CEO, Min-Liang Tan, acknowledges that gamers are unhappy with low-quality generative AI content but sees value in using AI as a tool for quality assurance, bug hunting, and polishing games. Despite this, Razer is investing nearly $600 million in AI, aiming to hire 150 AI engineers and develop branded AI features. Tan believes that practical AI applications in game development will outlast the current hype and gamer backlash.

One Ubisoft game has miraculously survived cancellation says source- Thank God, said no one ever.

Despite Ubisoft's major restructuring that led to the cancellation of six games, a report suggests that Beyond Good & Evil 2, a long-delayed project, remains in active development. The lengthy development has reportedly cost Ubisoft over $500 million. The restructuring also includes ending the work-from-home policy and mandating office work five days a week, which may lead to further layoffs. Meanwhile, the game workers union Solidaires Informatique called for a strike in response to Ubisoft's recent announcements.

Nvidia reportedly cancels partner incentive scheme to sell cards at MSRP, signalling hard times ahead for GPU prices | PC Gamer

Nvidia reportedly cancelled its Open Price Program (OPP), a scheme that incentivized AIBs to sell its graphics cards at MSRP, according to YouTuber Der8auer. This cancellation, if true, could lead to significant price increases for GPUs, as the MSRP is no longer guaranteed. Der8auer suggests that the OPP was a cashback-like program that encouraged AIBs to sell cards at the MSRP communicated by Nvidia. The cancellation of the OPP and the bundle system, along with the global memory shortage crisis and potential further tariffs, are expected to drive up GPU prices by 40 to 50%.

Community Guidelines

PC Gaming Community Guidelines

Opinions are welcome.

You can dislike a game, studio, update, platform, or trend. Criticism is part of PC gaming. Say what you think and explain why.

Debate the idea, not the person.

Disagree hard if you want, but keep it about the topic. Personal attacks, name-calling, or baiting derail discussion and add no value.

Back up strong claims.

Hot takes are fine. Present them like opinions, not facts. If you’re stating something as fact, be ready to support it.

Self-promotion is allowed, within reason.

Share projects, mods, videos, or passion work if it adds value and you’re part of the discussion. Drive-by promo will be removed.

No power-tripping.

Moderation exists to keep conversations readable, not to police opinions. Disagreeing with mods is not a rule violation.

Assume good faith first.

Not everyone expresses themselves perfectly. Clarify before escalating.

Enjoy the discussion.

PC gaming is opinionated, messy, and evolving. That’s the point.
