Do you plan your Minecraft builds on paper or directly in-game?

I usually jump straight into building, but on bigger projects it sometimes leads to a lot of rework and wasted blocks. I’m curious how others approach this. Do you sketch layouts, use reference grids, or just experiment directly in the world?

Whenever I work on large builds like domes or arenas, getting clean circles takes a lot of trial and error. I’m curious how other builders speed this up. Do you use grid counting, reference charts, or in-game tricks to keep symmetry accurate?
