Two Men Planned to Overtake Hatian Island of 87K People: Indictment
Two North Texas men, Gavin Rivers Weisenburg and Tanner Christopher Thomas, have been indicted for planning a coup on Gonâve Island, Haiti, with the intent to murder all men and enslave women and children. The pair, aged 21 and 20, respectively, trained and planned for nearly a year, taking Haitian Creole classes, enrolling in fire academy, and attempting to recruit others. They face charges including conspiracy to murder, maim, or kidnap in a foreign country, and production of child pornography. The case, described as bizarre and implausible by criminologists, is being investigated by the FBI, U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations, and Salina Police Department, with prosecution led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ryan Locker.
