Past the Peak: TV Series Count Declines for Third Straight Year in 2025
A report from Luminate reveals that the number of U.S.-produced TV series has declined for the third consecutive year in 2025, marking a significant shift from the Peak TV Era. The total number of shows fell by 11 percent, with all platforms experiencing drops, including a 21 percent decrease in broadcast networks. Streaming services saw a notable decline, with HBO Max halving its original content. Despite these decreases, international shows like Squid Game and Adolescence helped fill the gap, though their numbers also decreased.
