How Iran jammed Starlink (and how Iranians are trying to get around it)
After shutting down the internet, the Iranian government attempted to jam Starlink satellite service, which was made free to Iranians by the company. Starlink users in Iran are experiencing intermittent interference, with packet loss reaching up to 35 percent at its peak. However, Starlink has released a software update that significantly reduces packet loss to approximately 10 percent, allowing for continued, albeit unstable, connectivity. Despite these efforts, only a small fraction of Iran's population has access to Starlink, limiting its effectiveness in circumventing the regime's blackouts.
