What drew you to Satanism?

I was never pushed into religion as a child, but living in the southeast U.S. and seeing how judgmental and hypocritical “Christians” were made me want to be the antithesis of everything they were.

I eventually started telling people I was a Satanist just to be their opposite — to put a barrier between the religious and myself. But after reading about the character of Lucifer in the Bible, I actually understood (or so I believed).

I’m still atheist, but have joined a Satanist community as a means of having a sort of second family that understands.
