Why are people protesting ice now, but not years ago

So if you look at a year by year graph of the amount of arrests ice has made.

The years Obama was in office make what's going on now look like child's Play. The camps they keep these people at we're built by the Democrats. Hell you can even find CNN did up very positive documentary following around ice in 2016. Doing exactly the same thing they're doing now.

So why is there such a hatred towards people doing something they have been doing, at a far greater amount than what was done when the party that these people protesting represents was in power?

Please educate me. And why is all hell breaking loose in MN right after the massive billions in fraud were discovered.... Seems really weird to me
