I Met the Devil on Prague’s Charles Bridge
One memorable eccentric I met was an artist, of a sort, sometimes known as "The Devil of Prague". I ran into him several times on Prague's famous Charles Bridge. Over the decades, he became as much a tourist landmark as the Charles Bridge itself.
This blog post recounts the author's encounters with Antonín 'Tonda' Votava, known as 'The Devil of Prague,' a unique artist who sold his work on Charles Bridge from 1968 until his death in 2009. Despite his eccentric behavior and struggles with Multiple Sclerosis, Tonda became a local legend and a symbol of Prague's artistic spirit.
