Italo becomes the first train with Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, offering free high-speed internet on all trains. Starting from May, passengers of all classes can connect for free using their devices as the Starlink service by SpaceX will be included in the ticket price. Within a year, all trains will be equipped with the necessary antennas and equipment to provide this option on all national routes. Starlink will be offered for free to all Italo passengers, regardless of ticket class, from entry options to the most exclusive ones. This allows passengers to connect to the Wi-Fi network inside the carriages to take advantage of high-speed satellite internet even far from populated areas and while in motion. Additionally, as many routes pass through tunnels like the Apennines, which are out of satellite reach, Italo has recently announced an agreement with Nomad Digital to improve 5G service, increasing performance in difficult areas by +460% in download, +163% in upload, and +80% in response speed. Italo has also introduced a new app for Android and iPhone to access movies, series, and other options. Currently, Italo's fleet of 51 trains will all be equipped with Starlink within a year, with an additional 12 trains produced by Alstom to be added by 2027. A restyling with a golden stripe that will color the dark red of the livery is also in the works.
