This weekly report from the CDC's FluView provides key updates on the status of influenza activity in the U.S. for Week 1, ending January 10, 2026. Seasonal influenza activity remains elevated nationally, but has decreased or remained stable for two consecutive weeks. Influenza A(H3N2) viruses are the most frequently reported this season, with 90.9% belonging to subclade K. The weekly hospitalization rate peaked at 12.6 per 100,000 population, the second highest since the 2010-2011 season. CDC estimates at least 18,000,000 illnesses, 230,000 hospitalizations, and 9,300 deaths from flu this season. Vaccination is still recommended, and antiviral drugs are available for treatment.
