Wes Anderson... are his films getting worse?

I loved Wes Anderson's earlier films, but I've really struggled to care about The French Dispatch and Asteroid City. I hate to admit it, but they felt boring to me. In these last two, the only thing his eccentric characters and deadpan deliveries have truly perfected is style over substance.
