I've always thought having a space for obituaries and eulogies could help us appreciate the values that 99.9% of the world population share. I would love to have eulogies for "normal" people as well- they are equally moving and get little airtime.
My cousin's eulogy for my uncle a couple years ago, for example, made a huge impact on me. It talked about my uncle sitting down next to his daughter who was playing the piano, and then starting to sing the hymn she was practicing, and how a feeling of peace permeated the house, and how he lay on the couch enveloped by the moment. It struck me that a huge part of being a good parent is simply about making your children feel safe and loved.
