A New Study Suggests Your Dog May Be Eavesdropping On You To Learn Language | HuffPost Life
A new study published in the journal Science suggests that some dogs, known as Gifted Word Learner dogs, can learn and remember the names of objects by eavesdropping on human conversations. These dogs, which are rare, can learn new words with just a few repetitions and can remember them for years. Border collies are overrepresented in these studies, but the ability is not breed-specific. Dogs learn from observing and interacting with humans, and some can distinguish between nouns and verbs.
