Wallstreetbets
You guys need to stop crying about wallstreetbets. Let's be real....... Most subs on reddit are general interest subs. Nobody joined r/cocacola because they saw it on the news and wanted to join the fun. That's the key difference that you're missing here. If the same guy didn't get /cocacola oh well.
r/wallstreetbets was literally built from the ground up for a single purpose and everyone in that sub (present company excluded) joined because of the founder(s). It made international news and literally printed millionaires. There are over 10 MILLION PEOPLE on there. Yes..... They get special treatment. No, some guy doesn't get to steal valor from them because "I WAS HERE FIRST!!!"
That is the most entitled, whiny BS that I've seen in some time.
You don't get to steal someone else's idea and capitalize on it for your personal gain because you were first to claiming their name on a different site.
I will absolutely agree that it should have been reserved from the start but did a fine job of owning that mistake.
Plus...... Get some business sense in your head and think like a professional for a moment. Digg is trying to build a new site over here. Of course they'd make accommodations for high rollers. One post in r/wallstreetbets from the founder that says "check out our digg site!" and boom, you have millions and millions of new users overnight. That's smart business.
Basically, the digg team was trying to sign LeBron James to their new expansion team and you showed up wearing his jersey and now you're mad because you don't get any play time.
You want to make something good yourself? /newwallstreetbets is open. So is /2wallstreet2bets. So are infinitely other options. Start a new community and get to work. Stop crying because you couldn't steal valor.
