How is everyone sharing new /diggs for exposure?

Just curious what people are doing for exposure to grow their communities? I got banned from a Subreddit today for trying to share to offer people more options other than Reddit.

One issue is that a lot of people don't seem to know what Digg even is and some even think its a malicious site instead of doing research
