Welcome to /CrashCourses

Welcome! If you've stumbled across this community, I'd like to explain my vision. I had this idea while talking with a friend of mine, who is one of those people that gets infatuated with seemingly the most random of hobbies and topics, and then proceeds to learn anything and eve

About

A community dedicated to the joy of learning. This is a place for people to share their knowledge and passions through in-depth "crash courses" on any topic, and for others to discover something new.

Are you one of the few people who actually understood the movie Primer? Are you an actual rocket scientist who wants to explain the latest advances in rocket technology? Whether you are a certified expert or a dedicated hobbyist, this is your platform to teach. We value detailed, thorough, and well-sourced courses that are intuitive enough for the layman to understand.

How to Post:

To Teach: Start your title with [Course]. Include a thorough explanation and cite your sources.

To Learn: Start your title with [Request]. Briefly explain what specific aspect of the topic you want to understand.

Community Guidelines

  1. Be civil. No harassment or "well, actually" condescension. Be helpful and encouraging, not a jerk.

  2. No low-effort content. Posts should be substantive, well-structured, and long-form. We're here to learn and be amazed, not doom scroll through memes and jokes.

  3. Use sources when appropriate. Posts are expected to be factual.

  4. Search for existing courses before creating or requesting. We want to encourage multiple perspectives, so duplicate courses are allowed to a degree.

  5. No AI-generated content. We are here to share real knowledge from real people.

  6. Bury off-topic, low-effort, and malicious content. Don't bury a course or feedback just because it's not for you or you don't agree with a perspective.
