Trying to read Ernest Cline - Ready Player Two. Is there something wrong with me, or is it really really bad?

The first book was rough around the edges, but made up for it with heavy nostalgia. This one though, the first few chapters read like a book outline that the author didn't want to flesh out. Literally world changing technological advances, get a few pages. I'm maybe a quarter of the way through. Will I regret trying to keep going? Will I preserve memories of the first book by giving up now?
