Long-distance hike out of Oslo, Norway
Many visitors to Norway arrive in Oslo and may be pleased with the city, but disappointed by the lack of amazing scenery. To see anything spectacular, you have to drive for at least 4-5 hours. OR you can walk for at least a week. There are two long-distance trails starting right in downtown Oslo, Jotunheimstien which goes for 320 kilometers to Jotunheimen National Park, and Rondanestien which goes for 420 kilometers to Rondane National Park. There's also a pleasant and even longer pilgrimage trail that goes to Trondheim and the cathedral Nidarosdomen.
Anyway, the photo below is from Sikkilsdalen, a valley you descend into and follow to the other end towards the mountains in the background of this photo. Those mountains are Jotunheimen, which is a hiking paradise in itself.
Most popular trails in Norway are marked with the red T you see in the photo. As long as you see one of those every once in a while, you are not lost.
