Rules to live by?

I’m wondering what are some of the unspoken rules you (literally) live by. Like what do you do to reduce your chances of being murdered?

For me I greet my follow Raiders, sometimes holler don’t shoot and blink my flashlight if I’m feeling lazy. I try not to sneak up on people and holster my weapon unless there are Arcs around. Generally I give people space when they are looting - stay out of the room they are in, wait to loot a boss they took down, etc.
