ICE has stopped paying for detainee medical treatment
ICE has stopped paying for detainee medical treatment since October 3, 2025, causing a significant gap in essential care. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) terminated its agreement with ICE, leaving them without a mechanism to process medical claims. This has led to detainees being denied necessary treatment, including life-threatening conditions. ICE has announced it will not begin processing such claims until at least April 30, 2026.
